    Sludge property and enzyme activity

    Sludge specific resistance to filtrate (SRF) was monitored according to pressure filtration method. Capillary suction time (CST) was determined with a portable CST 304B instrument (Triton, UK) equipped with an 18 mm diameter funnel and Whatman 17 chromatographygrade paper. The particle size was measured by SALD-2201 Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer (Shimadzu, Japan). The viscosity was measured by a Brookfield Viscometer (model TD2-LVDV-1). Protease and α-Glucosidase activity of sludge liquor were measured for samples collected from microaeration reactors by using the ELISA kit (Shanghai Hengyuan Biotech) according to reported methods (Zheng et al., 2019).
